The Common Good Nation – A Nation Defined by Agreement
Show Topic: The ‘Common Good Nation’– A Nation Defined by Agreement
Guest: Dr. Terry Mollner, EdD. He is the Co-Founder of the Calvert Social Investment Funds–the first family of investment funds focusing on social responsibility; he is also an active & vocal Board Member of Ben & Jerry’s.
Dr. Mollner was instrumental in helping to negotiate a buyout of Ben & Jerry's with the international conglomerate Unilever–a successful negotiation that would not only leave the social mission of Ben & Jerry’s intact, but so successful, that it would be adopted by Unilever worldwide.
Dr. Mollner is the author of numerous books on promoting the ‘Common Good’, social justice, cooperation by agreement, and working to ‘reverse’ the traditional bottom-line of profits over people.
His three recent books are: Common Good Nation, Common Good Capitalism, and Eldering: What We Do Between Enlightenment and Death. During the Ben & Jerry’s buy-out by Unilever, he made sure they received a legal contract from Unilever to continue spending the same percentage of its annual budget on social activism as the year it was bought–forever.
Discussion will be on the concept of Nations Defined by Agreement into the discussion on politics of change. How in the era of Trumpian politics, a movement for social change for good–among businesses and individuals will take place in the private sector of committed individuals–not with government. As humans we have a choice to prosper, that is–compete or cooperate.
