World Health Organization Names Popular Herbicide ‘Glyphosate’ a Probable Carcinogen

April 22, 2016 – The World Health Organization has named glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup, the companion herbicide designed for use with GMO’s as well as in conventional agriculture, has been deemed a ‘probable carcinogen‘  and genotoxic by the World Health Organization. What this means is the safety of the US food supply and that around the world cannot be automatically deemed safe. In fact, the FDA is only recently taking up review of the potential effects of glyphosate on humans, after intense public pressure to investigate how pervasive glyphosate is in our environment, in our foods, and in humans. Studies are ongoing, but the data so far shows it ubiquitous in our environment, even studies finding it in breast milk–some linking it to non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. For more on this subject, watch The Legal Edition talk about ‘glyphosate’ in the ‘New Food Order’ with Guest, Dr. Stephanie Seneff, MIT’s premier Sr. Research Scientist whose research is devoted to uncovering the effects of glyphosate in humans.
